How did The Sanctuary begin?
Thirty years ago, The Sanctuary was established in the heart of London’s Covent Garden to provide powerful relaxing and rejuvenating treatments – especially for the female dancers who performed nearby. As the area has changed, so has The Sanctuary. Today, most women entering The Sanctuary are not dancers but women who recognise that they deserve some time and pampering for themselves. In thirty years, The Sanctuary has expanded and modernised, with new pools, beautiful relaxation areas and dozens of treatment rooms. But some things haven’t changed. The Sanctuary is still run for women by women, and our powerful treatments are still designed to relax, replenish and breathe new vitality into our guests.
What do we believe?
It’s simple really. If you feel good about your body, you feel better about yourself and the world around you. Women who take care of themselves have an inner glow that shows on their faces and in the way they carry themselves. The Sanctuary is about providing the time, space and expertise for women to renew that glow – whether you come in for a full day of treatments or just to relax by the pools with a close friend.
The Sanctuary in your home
Our guests had been saying for years how they wished they could take The Sanctuary home with them. Eventually, in 1998, we perfected a series of products which could be used at home without needing a therapist or special equipment. Available exclusively in Boots (and, of course, at our spa in Covent Garden as well as in a few select locations around the world), these allow all women to treat themselves to a touch of spa luxury, whether it’s a sensual bath float or a rejuvenating pro-collagen face mask.
